27 Dresses

27 Dresses trailer

27 Dresses is a decent watch if you’re in the mood for a light and easy romcom, but it’s not one that’s going to blow you away. The story is pretty predictable from start to finish and there are moments where it drags a little, but it’s still an enjoyable enough way to spend a couple of hours.

The clear highlight of the whole film is the chemistry between Katherine Heigl and James Marsden. Every scene they share together has this really natural back and forth energy that makes you genuinely invested in where things are going between them. Marsden in particular is really charming as Kevin and honestly makes the film way more watchable than it would be without him. Their dynamic is the kind that feels effortless, like the actors actually enjoy working together, and that comes through on screen.

The wedding chaos scattered throughout the film gets some good laughs and the costume choices alone are worth watching for, but the sister storyline feels a little overdone and doesn’t bring anything particularly surprising to the table.

Overall it’s a fine film but probably not one for everyone. If you love romcoms and enjoy watching two people with great chemistry slowly figure things out, you’ll have a good time. If you’re not already a fan of the genre though, this one probably won’t convert you.
